Youth COP Sparks Passion for Climate Solutions
On 11th of February, several Year 13 Geography students attended a Youth COP event at North Hertfordshire College that focused on climate change issues and sustainability career pathways. Amelie W found the experience very rewarding:
"I participated in a flood risk and adaptation workshop, which deepened my interest in flood management and raised my awareness of the severity of flooding in Hertfordshire. Later, we joined a climate debate representing different environmental stakeholders. I argued for maintaining Conventional Energy while finding creative ways to reduce carbon emissions, which I found challenging and exciting, especially during negotiations with other groups. After lunch, we explored a sustainability careers fair that showcased a wide range of eco-friendly career paths, providing valuable insights into how I could make a positive environmental impact in my future work. Overall, the day was inspiring and informative. My favourite part was the climate debate, as it fueled my passion for finding collaborative solutions to environmental challenges."
