HCL Wins Catering Contract

We are delighted to confirm that Herts Catering Limited (HCL) have been appointed as our Trust wide catering provider.

HCL are already the existing provider in most of the Trust schools. All schools will now fall under one contract manager with HCL, and with one contract manager it will help provide a consistent excellent catering service at all our schools.

HCL will liaise with the school regularly to get feedback on the provision and discuss new ideas, along with looking to engage with students and parents on what they would like to see from the catering provision. This week for example, HCL were giving out free food to the students such as wraps with Mediterranean chicken and vegan meatballs, for the children to see if they would like them included on their menu. They were enthusiastically received!

Celebrating 50 years of excellence

On Friday 3rd July, St Clement Danes School celebrated a monumental milestone: 50 years of educational excellence. The school opened its doors to past pupils, former staff, distinguished dignitaries and community pillars to reminisce, reconnect, and celebrate five decades of history, growth and community spirit.   Most significantly, the event served as a joyful homecoming for the pioneering alumni of the 1975 and 1976 cohorts, the very first pupils and staff to walk the school's corridors. Led by a stellar team of Sixth Form Head Prefects and Prefects, these returning guests were treated to guided tours of the school. For many, it was an emotional journey of nostalgia; while they recognised several of the school's original architectural features, they were amazed to see how the site has evolved, literally doubling in size since those early days in the mid-1970s.   During the celebrations, Mr Toby Sutherland shared a delightful history lesson regarding the school's official grand opening on 5th May 1978 by HRH The Duke of Gloucester. In an amusing contrast to the beautiful, sun-drenched weather of this 2026 anniversary, which stood out as one of the hottest days of the year, that original opening day in 1978 famously turned out to be the wettest.   Fortunately, the glorious sunshine this year allowed guests to fully enjoy the outdoor festivities, with lively garden games bringing laughter and friendly competition to the afternoon. To accompany the high spirits, Mr Howard Biswell prepared a truly magnificent and delicious afternoon tea that was thoroughly enjoyed by all in attendance.   The afternoon was also a vibrant celebration of the school's rich musical heritage. Guests were treated to outstanding performances by current St Clement Danes musicians, showcasing the creative talent nurtured at the school today. A standout, heartwarming moment of the day was a nostalgic rendition of "You Make Me Feel So Young," sung beautifully by Mr Butterfield.   As St Clement Danes looks forward to the next 50 years, the strength of its alumni, the dedication of its staff, and the enduring spirit of Loyauté m’oblige ensure that its legacy of excellence will continue to shine brightly.
