Sixth Form invite local community to Christmas festivities at SCD
On Monday 16th December the Sixth Form Committee launched their inaugural Community Christmas event when they held a festive afternoon tea to which they invited elderly members of the Chorleywood community, including some residents from local care home, Sunrise Senior Living. The visitors enjoyed a chat and played some games with the sixth form students over mince pies and a cup of tea.
The idea for the event originally arose from a recent Cadbury campaign when the company joined forces with Age UK to address loneliness among older people. The sixth formers considered ways in which the school could build closer links with the local community, including getting to know some of the local elderly residents.
We hope that this event will strengthen our ties with our local community. Our visitors commented on how much they had enjoyed visiting the school and meeting our students during the festive season. We look forward to hosting similar events in the future, and to invite members of our local community to share some Christmas cheer with our students.
