Steve Godbold retires after 21 years of outstanding support to school
This term marks the retirement of longstanding supporter of St Clement Danes School, Steve Godbold, as Chair of the school's Anchor Fund.
Headteacher Toby Sutherland expressed his gratitude. "I would like to thank Steve Godbold who is retiring as Chair of the Anchor Fund Committee after seven years. His eldest son joined St Clement Danes in 1998 and from that time he has been strongly involved in the school community as a parent governor or taking part in school committees. His dedication to the school has been outstanding."
Steve's retirement follows a long association with the school, and Steve added his own memories of St Clement Danes School -
"All good things must come to an end. The Godbold family have had a direct connection to SCD since 1998 when eldest son Daniel started in Year 7, and some 21 years later after 3 sons, two governor terms, various committees and a stint as Anchor Fund Chair the time has come.
We leave as a family with 3 bricks in the fundraising wall, one name on the Honours Board and some favourable “mentions in dispatches” over the years.
A school is a collection of families and the whole is stronger than the sum of its parts. SCD has gone from strength to strength in these 21 years, but should never forget the hard years when people of ability and dedication worked hard to overcome organisational and financial challenges to ensure that teaching and learning was always central, but that the school was an environment of safety, understanding and commitment designed to develop young learners into fine adults.
I enjoyed playing my small part, supporting much more able educators, technicians and fundraisers to whom, as a parent, I shall be forever grateful."
Steve's commitment and support to the school during the last twenty one years is very much appreciated, and we wish Steve and the Godbold family very best wishes for the future.
