14th JulyRecord breaking success in Cambridge Biology Challenge
It has been a record breaking year in the Cambridge Biology Challenge, with our pupils achieving our best results yet across the first three rounds of the competition. While we eagerly await the final round four results later this term, we are absolutely delighted to celebrate the historic achievements of our pupils, including one truly exceptional individual performance.
Chinmayi in Year 10 has made school history by becoming the very first SCD pupil to obtain a prestigious Distinction certificate. Alongside this incredible achievement, she also won the overall category for Best Essay and was awarded a Badge of Merit for her highly impressive discussion of Morgan’s Canon. In recognition of her outstanding success, Chinmayi has been invited to Homerton College, Cambridge, for a special celebration day this September.
The wider cohort also achieved fantastic success across Year 10 and Year 12 in the initial rounds of the challenge:
Commended or Highly Commended Certificates: 8 pupils in Year 10 and 2 pupils in Year 12
Badges of Merit: 7 pupils recognised for outstanding areas of discussion
