Students Excel in Computing Competitions

We have had much Computing success to report in recent competitions. St Clement Danes entered 578 students for Bebras, of which there were 341,652 entries nationally. Out of these, we achieved 151 merits, 144 distinctions and an amazing 70 Golds, putting us in the top 10% nationally and qualifying for the 2nd round which is an Oxford University for the coding challenge. We will update you on their progress next month. 

Students also entered Cyber First; an incredibly difficult competition involving new software and a lot of skills the students have never had to master before. This was a girls only competition. One team, which consisted of only 3 students where most teams have 4, did phenomenally well and have qualified for the regional East of England finals.

Teachers commended for transforming Design & Technology education

We were delighted to read that our Design and Technology teachers, Miss Yalley and Mr Hadley were featured in the Design and Technology publication.  The article discusses the transformation of the Design & Technology (D&T) department at St. Clement Danes School over the past five years. Adopted industry models like the Double Diamond Design Process and Scrum-based project sprints to enhance student learning. Established workshops with industry professionals to inspire students, especially girls, to pursue design careers. Key Takeaways for Educators Adapt curriculum to student needs and school culture. Pilot new initiatives as clubs first to gauge student interest. Encourage student feedback to refine teaching methods. Be open to change and continuously evolve teaching strategies.
